Academic Bootcamp

A new conference for physicians to strengthen scholarship skills in an area of academic focus.

September 28, 2023 - October 1, 2023
Snowbird Cliff Lodge
Snowbird, UT

The CCHMC Academic Bootcamp is a new destination CME conference in Snowbird, UT (just outside of Salt Lake City) sponsored by the Division of Hospital Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The conference provides a unique opportunity for participants to obtain mentorship from an elite group of faculty to strengthen their scholarly skills. Faculty are nationally-recognized experts in their respective fields, drawn from multiple leading institutions. The conference is structured to allow for foundational group instruction, practical small group work, and ample time to enjoy the amenities of the conference resort.

Participants will be asked to choose a track related to an area of scholarly interest at the time of registration; however, all participants will engage in content related to the basics of scholarship design and leadership skills to promote academic success. The conference is also unique in that we are limiting the number of participants, so as to allow for a more intimate experience and the opportunity to network with both faculty and participants. Our goal is for participants to create communities of practice so they can continue to learn from each other outside of the conference, including opportunities for post-conference virtual check-ins.

Target Audience

The conference is for adult and pediatric hospitalists who desire to strengthen their academic skills in an area of scholarly focus (i.e., clinical research, quality improvement, or educational scholarship).

Note: Other specialists are welcome to attend as the conference content is broadly applicable across fields.

Conference Objectives

1. Develop a rigorous approach to work within an area of scholarly focus (i.e., clinical research, quality improvement, medical education)

2. Cultivate academic leadership skills

3. Create communities of practice through group and peer mentoring of cohorts of participants with similar academic interests
